The garden of S. Bartolomeu was built from 1960, with the support of the Tourism Commission of Serra do Marão and would be inaugurated on August 22, 1964. This is one of the outstanding works of the presidency of D. Manuel Benedicto de Castro, grandson of Eça de Queiroz, framed in the policy urbanization of the village and its embellishment.
It was reclassified in 2021, through the placement of new floors and the restoration and cleaning of walls and railings.
A leisure area was installed consisting of play equipment for children and families, inserted in safety floors and in areas with grass.
A pergola was also built, which will be a shady area covered by flowering vines such as Wisteria and Bougainvillea.
The arbor has been conserved and will be decorated with colorful and aromatic flowers, adapting to each season of the year.
Two dozen new trees were planted to replace those that were removed from that space, as they were in poor condition and represented a risk to safety.
Also noteworthy is the fountain with a tile panel that portrays the fulfillment of the word of Egas Moniz, who presents himself to the King of León, with a rope around his neck, offering his life and that of his family to rescue the word given in the siege of Guimaraes.
